Rising popularity of artisan bread inspires gourmet-worthy sandwiches

Shakopee, MN, May 12, 2007 (updated) - Lettieri's Inc. has launched a new line of Ciabatta Squares breakfast sandwiches. Once reserved for the cultured and epicurean elite, artisan breads -- such as ciabatta -- have become a growing American taste-trend. David Poplau, Director of Channel Marketing for Lettieri's noted that given consumers' emerging appetite for this delicious item, Lettieri's "fired up its ovens, and created three new Ciabatta Squares breakfast sandwiches." The new line features: "Egg, Veggie and Double Cheese," "Ham, Egg and Double Cheese" and "Sausage, Egg and Double Cheese" varieties all sandwiched between authentic ciabatta buns.

The Egg, Veggie and Double Cheese sandwich includes a veggie egg patty, American and mozzarella cheese, strips of roasted bell pepper and a special spice blend. The Ham, Egg and Double Cheese sandwich features a slice of ham, fluffy egg patty with green pepper, onion and two slices of real Swiss cheese. The Sausage, Egg and Double Cheese sandwich is a "just right" spicy country sausage patty with egg patty, mozzarella and provolone cheeses, and flavored with an onion and pepper spice blend.

Poplau noted Lettieri's new Ciabatta is soft, porous bread with a crunchy, crackly crust. "Along with its hearty nature," noted Poplau, "the texture soaks up moisture and flavor, while the crisp crust keeps it from becoming soggy." Poplau added that Lettieri's has been seeking new options for its line of breakfast sandwiches. "Our findings," noted Poplau, "pointed us in the direction of adding a richer diversity of bread options."
